4. Problems with the RAF and with South African roads
Injured victims are faced with huge challenges when lodging a claim against the Road Accident Fund
at a time when they can ill afford additional stress. (Hiring lawyers, preparing documents etc).
The process is extremely costly, long, complicated and an administrative nightmare.
7 out of 10 claims submitted to the Road Accident Fund are fraudulent, leading to claim times being on average 36-48 months.
Of the R11 Billion paid out by the RAF in 2009, R7 Billion went towards attorney fees.
5. Procedures for claiming using the membership
Phone National Accident Advice Helpline on 010-350-0228 and give the particulars of your case to one of our friendly claims consultants.
Upon verification of the caller’s membership number, he/she will be provided with the case number and the case will be referred to our expert panel that will assess the merits of the claim
and the worth of proceeding with the claim against the RAF.
In the case where the merits of a claim are deemed non valid for presentation to the RAF,

Upon a valid claim, National Accident Advice Helpline will arrange all the necessary
consultation and opinions that (in the claim managers view), the client requires for his/her claim.
An assessment of the medical expenses incurred as the direct result of the injury is done to ensure a balanced and fair medical claim. The claim is then finalized, collated and with the claimants permission presented on his/her behalf to the RAF for settlement.
